Diese verdrehte Konformation ohne signifikante Konjugation erlaubt eine Interkalation des relativ hoch liegenden \u03c0(B=B)\u2010Orbitals mit dem tief liegenden \u03c0*\u2010Orbital der Anthryl\u2010Einheit, was zu einer kleinen HOMO\u2010LUMO\u2010L\u00fccke und letztlich zur C\u2010H\u2010Borylierung des Anthryl\u2010Liganden f\u00fchrt. Die HOMO\u2010LUMO\u2010Energiel\u00fccke wurde durch den Beginn der Absorptionsbande bei der l\u00e4ngsten Wellenl\u00e4nge im UV\u2010vis\u2010Spektrum auf 1.57\u2005eV gesch\u00e4tzt (THF, \u03bb<jats:sub>onset<\/jats:sub>=788\u2005nm). Mit elementarem Selen lie\u00df sich Verbindung <jats:bold>1<\/jats:bold> quantitativ zum Diboraseleniran <jats:bold>8<\/jats:bold> umsetzen.
