Within these PBMCs, circulating\n             B cells were differentiated <jats:italic>in vitro<\/jats:italic> and produced IgG Abs against not only ENV, but\n             also GAG and POL proteins. Under similar experimental conditions, HAART treated\n              patients produced Abs to ENV proteins only. The <jats:italic>in vitro<\/jats:italic> antibody production by\n              drug\u2010na\u00efve individuals\u2032 PBMCs depended on exogenous cytokines (IL\u20102 and IL\u201010)\n               but neither on the re\u2010stimulation of reactive cells in cultures by purified HIV\u20101\u2010gp\n               160 antigen nor on the re\u2010engagement of CD40 surface molecules. Further, it was\n                not abrogated by the addition of various monoclonal Abs (mAbs) to co\u2010stimulatory\n                 molecules. This suggests that the <jats:italic>in vitro<\/jats:italic> antibody production by drug\u2010na\u00efve\n                 individuals\u2032 PBMCs resulted from the maturation of already envelope and core\n                  antigen\u2010primed, differentiated B cells, presumably pre\u2010plasma cells, which are\n                  not known to circulate at homeostasy.
