Frustrated total internal reflection (FTIR)\u2010based touch sensing is used in combination with a four\u2010sided pyramidal pseudo\u2010holographic projection. The developed system allows gesture\u2010based control and smooth touch interaction through facile and inexpensive hardware and open\u2010source software tools. A software application is also developed as the interface between the touch\/gesture\u2010sensing system and the optical display.
