When glare directly hits the driver's eyes, the extreme brightness distribution in the driver's field of view reduces environmental visibility, causing a decrease in driver judgment and reaction speed, which increases the probability of accidents occurring. To reduce traffic accidents caused by glare in a changing environment, an intelligent holographic antiglare windshield system (IHAWS) based on a holographic optical element (HOE) is proposed. The antiglare HOE (aHOE) in IHAWS attenuates the external strong light directly in the driver's field of view to an acceptable level through diffraction and absorption of incident light, thereby alleviating abnormal brightness distribution caused by glare. The HOE in head\u2010up display (hHOE) projects driving information such as speed and navigation to the front of the vehicle, thus reducing safety hazards by minimizing driver distraction. The compatibility between these two types of HOEs requires an intelligent scheduling scheme based on binocular camera detection.
