For this class of problems the proposed network has the same dynamics as the Hopfield net, but it is shown to realize the<jats:italic>O<\/jats:italic>(<jats:italic>M<\/jats:italic><jats:sup>2<\/jats:sup>) connection paths among the<jats:italic>M<\/jats:italic>neurons with a number of wires and conductances increasing only<jats:italic>linearly<\/jats:italic>with increasing<jats:italic>M<\/jats:italic>, i.e. reducing this number by<jats:italic>one dimension<\/jats:italic>with respect to the<jats:italic>quadratically<\/jats:italic>increasing number of wires and conductances required in the Hopfield net.<\/jats:p><jats:p>Other advantages of the proposed neural network are discussed in relation to classical examples of decomposition problems.
