{"status":"ok","message-type":"work","message-version":"1.0.0","message":{"indexed":{"date-parts":[[2023,12,12]],"date-time":"2023-12-12T00:39:23Z","timestamp":1702341563466},"reference-count":23,"publisher":"Wiley","issue":"2","license":[{"start":{"date-parts":[[2005,11,16]],"date-time":"2005-11-16T00:00:00Z","timestamp":1132099200000},"content-version":"vor","delay-in-days":9085,"URL":"http:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/termsAndConditions#vor"}],"content-domain":{"domain":[],"crossmark-restriction":false},"short-container-title":["Eur J Immunol"],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[1981,1]]},"abstract":"<jats:title>Abstract<\/jats:title><jats:p>The genetic control of the collaboration between <jats:italic>Xenopus<\/jats:italic> T and B cells has been analyzed <jats:italic>in vitro<\/jats:italic> using cells from five strains of major histocompatibility complex\u2010defined <jats:italic>Xenopus.<\/jats:italic><\/jats:p><jats:p>When carrier (fowl gamma\u2010globulin)\u2010primed T cells and hapten (dinitrophenylated keyhole limpet hemocyanin)\u2010primed B cells differed by minor histocompatiblity antigens or by only one haplotype of the major histocompatibility complex, the collaboration was efficient in the sense that large numbers of plaques, low\u2010molecular weight antibodies and high\u2010affinity IgM antibodies could be recorded in the cultures challenged with dinitrophenylated fowl gamma\u2010globulin. However, when T and B cells differed at both alleles of the major histocompatibility complex, lower numbers of plaques were obtained, no low\u2010molecular weight anti\u2010hapten antibodies could be detected, and the IgM antibodies that were sometimes synthesized were of low affinity.
