Whereas the thymus\u2010independent anti\u2010\u03b1 (1\u21923) dextran response in BALB\/c mice was found to be IgM &gt; IgG<jats:sub>3<\/jats:sub> &gt; IgA, thus corresponding to previously published work, neither the \u03b1 (1\u21926) response in its thymus\u2010dependent or\u2010independent form, nor the response to purified meningococcal polysaccharide, corresponded to this pattern. No preference for any of the IgG subclasses appeared for these antigens when given as thymus\u2010independent carbohydrates.
