In the present study the TcR genes expressed by MHC class I\u2010restricted murine cytotoxic T cells (CTL) specific for a major epitope of the lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCMV), LCMV\u2010GP2<jats:sub>275\u2013289<\/jats:sub>, were investigated. The TcR primary structure of an LCMV\u2010GP2<jats:sub>275\u2013289<\/jats:sub> specific H\u20102D<jats:sup>b<\/jats:sup>\u2010restricted CTL clone has been determined. It uses a member of the V<jats:sub>\u03b1<\/jats:sub>4 family joined to J<jats:sub>\u03b1<\/jats:sub>AN14.4 for the \u03b1 chain and V<jats:sub>\u03b2<\/jats:sub>10 rearranged to D<jats:sub>\u03b2<\/jats:sub>2.1 and J<jats:sub>\u03b2<\/jats:sub>2.4 for its \u03b2 chain. Four other independent LCMV\u2010GP2<jats:sub>275\u2013289<\/jats:sub> specific H\u20102D<jats:sup>b<\/jats:sup>\u2010restricted CTL clones also expressed V<jats:sub>\u03b1<\/jats:sub>4 and V<jats:sub>\u03b2<\/jats:sub>10 gene elements. Furthermore, V<jats:sub>\u03b1<\/jats:sub>4 and V<jats:sub>\u03b2<\/jats:sub>10 were preferentially expressed by polyclonal CTL of C57BL\/6 origin specific for LCMV.
