Among several proteins which bound to the fyn SH2 domain in lysates of human Jurkat T lymphocytes, \u03b1\u2010 and \u03b2\u2010tubulin were identified by N\u2010terminal sequencing. Further analysis established that \u03b1\u2010tubulin exists as a tyrosine\u2010phosphorylated protein in Jurkat cells, where it interacts with p59<jats:sup>fyn<\/jats:sup>, but not with p56<jats:sup>lck<\/jats:sup>. By contrast, in untransformed resting human T lymphocytes \u03b1\u2010tubulin is not detectable as a tyrosine phosphorylated protein. However, following T cell activation, it becomes rapidly phosphorylated on tyrosine residues and subsequently associates with the SH2 domain of fyn.
