The current state\u2010of\u2010the\u2010art of ICE is described with an emphasis on the choice of the support material (glass or polymeric materials), electrokinetic fluid handling, and injection and detection issues. Strategies and chip designs for pre\u2010 or post\u2010column derivatization, DNA sequencing, on\u2010line PCR analysis, on\u2010chip enzymatic sample digestion, fraction isolation, and immunoassays are presented.
