We present a new method that allows to include i) an<jats:italic>N<\/jats:italic>\u2010path fading channel (with<jats:italic>ST<\/jats:italic>, where<jats:italic>S<\/jats:italic>is the rms delay spread, and<jats:italic>T<\/jats:italic>\u201d the bit length) and ii) noise. We show that the errors due to ISI go like<jats:italic>K<\/jats:italic>(<jats:italic>SIT<\/jats:italic>)<jats:sup>2<\/jats:sup>, where the proportionality constant<jats:italic>K<\/jats:italic>depends on the Gaussian filtering, the receiver filtering, and the sampling time.
