Fluorescence in situ hybridization with PAC1173K1 identified the breakpoint on 11p15, indicating that the <jats:italic>NUP98<\/jats:italic> gene was involved in the translocation. At 12q13, the breakpoint fell within BAC 578A18, selected for the homeobox C (<jats:italic>HOXC<\/jats:italic>) cluster genes. RACE\u2010PCR showed that <jats:italic>HOXC13<\/jats:italic> was the partner gene of <jats:italic>NUP98<\/jats:italic>. To date, <jats:italic>HOXC13<\/jats:italic> is the eighth homeobox gene that, as the result of a reciprocal translocation, fuses with <jats:italic>NUP98<\/jats:italic> in myeloid malignancies. \u00a9
