These variants had a lower saturation density than the parent clone and were 500 times less malignant. These less malignant variants had more or less chromosomes than the parent clone. The 4C<jats:sub>1<\/jats:sub> cells possessed cell\u2010surface antigen (s) capable of inducing humoral and cell\u2010mediated immune responses in syngeneic C3H mice. The less malignant variants were deficient in the 4C<jats:sub>1<\/jats:sub> antigen, although their cell\u2010surface alloantigens were unchanged.
