DNA from spleen and lymph\u2010node autopsies of two tumor\u2010bearing marmoset monkeys contained 0.14\u20130.75 \/ viral L\u2010DNA and 0.115\u20131.08 \/ H\u2010DNA. This amount of H\u2010DNA would be equivalent to the presence of 14\u2013130 M\u2010genomes per diploid tumor tissue cell. Six virus\u2010transformed lymphoid cell lines, two of them virus\u2010producing, contained 0.69\u20132.27 \/ H\u2010DNA and more than 0.72\u20131.95 \/ L\u2010DNA. These concentrations of H\u2010DNA sequences correspond to 83\u2013274 M\u2010genome copies per lymphoid tissue culture cell. The majority of viral genomes in transformed non\u2010producer lymphoid cell lines appeared to be defective, since part of the L\u2010sequences present in virions were found to be deleted in the genome copies of transformed cells.
