After neuraminidase treatment of protein blots, the spheroidal cells expressed an increased binding of <jats:sup>125<\/jats:sup>I\u2010labelled peanut lectin (PNA) to a unique glycoprotein of M<jats:sub>r<\/jats:sub>78,000 (gp78) which after desialylation migrated in SDS\u2010polyacrylamide gels as an M<jats:sub>r<\/jats:sub>86,000 protein. Antibodies were generated against this glycoprotein purified on PNA\u2010Sepharose and its expression on the surface of viable B16\u2010F1 cells was demonstrated.
