The cells were analyzed for lg(Jh), TCR \u03b2\u2010gene rearrangements and proto\u2010oncogene expression pattern, using a panel of molecularly cloned probes that in cluded c\u2010<jats:italic>fms<\/jats:italic>, c\u2010<jats:italic>myc<\/jats:italic>, c\u2010<jats:italic>myb<\/jats:italic>, c\u2010<jats:italic>pim<\/jats:italic>, c\u2010<jats:italic>fos<\/jats:italic>, N\u2010<jats:italic>myc<\/jats:italic>, c\u2010<jats:italic>sis<\/jats:italic>, c\u2010<jats:italic>fgr<\/jats:italic> as well as the virally derived probes v\u2010ki\u2010<jats:italic>ras<\/jats:italic> and v\u2010<jats:italic>src<\/jats:italic>. Consistent levels of expression of c\u2010<jats:italic>fms<\/jats:italic>, c\u2010<jats:italic>myc<\/jats:italic>, c\u2010<jats:italic>myb<\/jats:italic>, c\u2010ki\u2010<jats:italic>ras<\/jats:italic> and c\u2010<jats:italic>fgr<\/jats:italic> were identified in cells from several <jats:italic>in vitro<\/jats:italic> passages as well as from the heterotransplanted tumors in nude mice. Transcripts homologous to the c\u2010<jats:italic>fos<\/jats:italic>, c\u2010<jats:italic>src<\/jats:italic> and c\u2010<jats:italic>sis<\/jats:italic> were not observed. Southern blot study of DNA showed that the banding pattern of the screened proto\u2010oncogenes was not altered. Furthermore, Southern blot analysis demonstrated monoallelic immunoglobulin heavy chain (IgJh) rearrangement but a normal germ\u2010line configuration of the K light chain and TCR \u03b2\u2010genes.
