This problem arises in image coding. The method is based on a two\u2010level statistical image model. The first level corresponds to statistical model of the contour image, and the second level corresponds to a model of brightness given the contour image. An adaptive method of image prediction is considered. Computer simulation is performed in order to compare the results of prediction in cases of linear and nonlinear predictors with both previous and surrounding pixels.
