This system is a special case of limited angle tomography in which not only are projection angles limited, but the number of samples per projection varies. This article presents an orthogonal decomposition framework for unifying CIT algorithms including both generalized classical algorithms such as the algebraic reconstruction technique, the direct Fourier method, and filtered backprojection, and algorithms using basis functions from a <jats:italic>priori<\/jats:italic> information.
