It was found that due to the smaller distance between the double bonds in <jats:bold>1<\/jats:bold> (2.65 \u00c5) as compared to the parent tricyclo[4.2.0.0<jats:sup>2,5<\/jats:sup>]octa\u20103,7\u2010diene (<jats:bold>4<\/jats:bold>) (2.91 \u00c5), the sequence of the frontier orbitals is different.
