This manuscript presents the dissertation research the author is undertaking, which will involve a discourse analysis of online chat reference dialogues. The goal of the study is to examine existing information seeking behavior models in the recent context of the computer\u2010mediated communication (CMC), and to augment the theories by developing a dialogue model of information\u2010seeking CMC. In doing so, the study will develop an annotation scheme by incorporating dialogue act analysis into the analysis of information behavior.
