The 2010 Research Paper Award discusses the documentation of the Los Angeles Chapter of ASIS&T upon the occasion of its semicentennial year of activities. The Chapter's founding in 1961 reflected the aim of information scientists to share developments and research across the region for the purposes of continuing education. Mirroring trends across the professional landscape nationally, this Chapter's and others' programs have made unique contributions and fostered local understanding of both practical and strategic issues arising from advancements in information access and technology. These Awards are organized by the ASIS&T Special Interest Group on History & Foundations of Information Science (SIG HFIS).<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1002\/meet.2011.14504801364","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2012,1,11]],"date-time":"2012-01-11T12:23:03Z","timestamp":1326284583000},"page":"1-4","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["ASIS&T history fund research: Documenting education in the Los Angeles Chapter"],"prefix":"10.1002","volume":"48","author":[{"given":"Sarah A.","family":"Buchanan","sequence":"first","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"311","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2012,1,11]]},"reference":[{"volume-title":"A study of the needs for research in library and information science education","year":"1970","author":"Borko H.","key":"e_1_2_5_2_1"},{"key":"e_1_2_5_3_1","doi-asserted-by":"crossref","unstructured":"Buchanan S.(forthcoming).Regional information science: Education and disciplinary precept in the Los Angeles Chapter of ASIST 1961\u20132011.Journal of the American Society for Information Science and Technology.","DOI":"10.1002\/asi.21603"},{"volume-title":"Association of American Library Schools meeting (paper)","year":"1977","author":"Crickman R.
