This ASIST President's Invited Panel will focus on the need for and roles filled by information professionals in preparing the public to become more critical consumers of information products and services, as well as discuss research around the development of tools and algorithmic solutions that filter, detect and flag fake stories.<\/jats:p><jats:p>Noted educators, researchers and practicing professionals will discuss how and in which contexts information professionals can provide needed literacy education. Following the invited panelists' presentations and a time for group discussion and questions, attendees will form discussion groups, address questions and document their discussions. The small group members will share their discussion topics with all session attendees.
