Tech."],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2017,1]]},"abstract":"<jats:title>ABSTRACT<\/jats:title><jats:p>Subject indexing of music literature is known to be difficult because of language barriers and the vocabulary problem. Prior research has validated the necessity of indexing documents based on users' search queries. This study examined the characteristics of users' free\u2010text queries created in a music literature database (RILM) and compared those queries with the controlled vocabularies used by the database. This poster presents a typology of 11 categories of user\u2010created search terms identified in RILM. The findings indicate that the controlled vocabularies used by RILM align well with the user search terms.
