Cross\u2010session search activities may be intermixed with periods of direct engagement to implement the work task (potentially based on information found during search). Much prior work has focused on analyzing the changes in search activities between sessions and on trying to predict task continuation. Less consideration has been paid to the non\u2010search task activities and their influence on search sessions. We conducted a diary study to investigate cross\u2010session search behavior in real\u2010life tasks. Our preliminary analysis identified eight types of non\u2010search task activities people conducted in\u2010between their cross\u2010session search processes. We also observed three different patterns regarding how users' search sessions intertwined with non\u2010search activities.
