Most related studies only consider one\u2010dimensional sensors and focuses on the performance of the sensor configuration. In recent years, three\u2010dimensional sensors have been increasingly adopted in practice. Meanwhile, cost is another key issue needed to be taken into account, which is closely related to the quantity and locations of sensors. This study develops a multi\u2010objective sensor placement model considering three\u2010dimensional vibration sensors, taking both performance and cost as objectives. We propose a modified non\u2010dominated sorting genetic algorithm\u2010II to solve the model. The effectiveness of our proposed model and algorithm is validated based on a real case study on fast door system of the Baihetan hydropower station.
