A differential trinary plane is constructed, and the information volume is suppressed by transmitting its boundary line information. The proposed coding technique incorporates a dynamic threshold setting algorithm and a coding algorithm for expressing the boundary line of the differential trinary plane by a tree structure. The simulation results are shown. Since this coding method smoothes the source information in capacity\u2010limited narrow\u2010band transmission line, its resolution worsens when the image is moving. However, accurate images soon are obtained when a still image is input.
