It is shown that the logarithmic spectrum is not suitable for the features of noisy speech because it is sensitive to stochastic noise effects when the signal\u2010to\u2010noise ratio is low. A new distance measure for spoken word recognition is proposed which is effective in evaluating the distance between the reference and the input under the influence of noise.
