The waveform extraction problem in the biological signal is to estimate the signal in the fluctuations. This paper considers the signal extraction in the brain wave evoked by auditory stimulus during sleep, aiming at describing the relation between the evoked potential and the sleep stage. An adaptive averaging method is proposed which can extract the evoked potential in the fluctuations by a simple procedure, compared with the traditional averaging method and adaptive correlation filter. The effectiveness of the signal extraction by the proposed method was verified by simulation, and the method was applied to the evoked potential signal extraction in the actual brain wave during sleep.
