As the first step, the probability density function for the discriminant process is defined. The parameters of the probability density function is the mean and the variance of n<\/jats:italic> stochastic variables. It is assumed that each of the variances is given as a linear function of the mean values. The space spanned by the parameters (n<\/jats:italic> means) is defined and called the discriminal space. The fundamental metric is introduced into the discriminal space using Fisher's information matrix, and the resulting space is regarded as an n<\/jats:italic>\u2010dimensional Riemannian space.
