Pract."],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[1992,9]]},"abstract":"<jats:title>Abstract<\/jats:title><jats:p>This paper presents the results of an ongoing investigation that focuses on assessing the adequacy of project documentation through an identified taxonomic structure relating numerous documentation characteristics. Previous research in this area has been limited to the study of isolated characteristics of documentation and English prose, without considering the collective contributions of such characteristics. The research described in this paper takes those characteristics, adds others, and establishes a well\u2010defined approach to assessing the \u2018adequacy\u2019 of software documentation. The identification of document quality indicators (DQIs) provide the basis for the assessment procedure.
