The comparison begins by identifying a core for each language that captures the essential properties of the language and the intent of the language designers. These core languages then serve as a basis for the discussion of the language philosophies and the impact of the language on gross program organization and on the use of individual statements.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1002\/spe.4380110102","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2006,11,17]],"date-time":"2006-11-17T11:47:42Z","timestamp":1163764062000},"page":"1-52","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":9,"title":["A comparison of programming languages for software engineering"],"prefix":"10.1002","volume":"11","author":[{"given":"Mary","family":"Shaw","sequence":"first","affiliation":[]},{"given":"Guy T.","family":"Almes","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"given":"Joseph M.","family":"Newcomer","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"given":"Brian K.","family":"Reid","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"given":"Wm.
