This paper presents a knowledge\u2010based model for both. This model is generic because it is not based on any language or design method. Therefore, it can be applied on the basis of \u2018problem\u2019 to be solved. It also captures four life\u2010cycle phases:<jats:italic>requirement, specification, design<\/jats:italic>and<jats:italic>programming<\/jats:italic>. We also provide a domain\u2010specific view that allows the dependency analysis of<jats:italic>fine\u2010grain<\/jats:italic>objects. Two kinds of dependencies are identified:<jats:italic>inter\u2010phase dependencies<\/jats:italic>, these are dependency relations between the objects of the one phase and another; and<jats:italic>intra\u2010phase dependencies<\/jats:italic>, these are dependency relations between the objects of the same phase.
