A special screening procedure is developed for the removal of outliers in the <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">GPS<\/jats:styled-content> Zenith Total Delay (<jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">ZTD)<\/jats:styled-content> data. <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">ZTD<\/jats:styled-content> data are converted to integrated water vapour (<jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">IWV)<\/jats:styled-content> using surface pressure information from an <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">AROME\u2010WMED<\/jats:styled-content> operational analysis. The reprocessed <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">ZTD<\/jats:styled-content> and <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">IWV<\/jats:styled-content> data are used to assess the accuracy of the near\u2010real time <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">E\u2010GVAP ZTD<\/jats:styled-content> data assimilated in operational <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">numerical weather prediction<\/jats:styled-content> systems and to validate the <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">IWV<\/jats:styled-content> data from the <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">AROME\u2010WMED<\/jats:styled-content> operational analysis and <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">AROME\u2010WMED<\/jats:styled-content> reanalysis 1, and from radiosonde observations. The mean differences between <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">E\u2010GVAP<\/jats:styled-content> and reprocessed <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">ZTD<\/jats:styled-content> data are not negligible and lie in the range from \u22123 to +3 mm. The standard deviations of differences are between 4 and 8 mm. The comparisons of <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">IWV<\/jats:styled-content> from <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">AROME\u2010WMED<\/jats:styled-content> analyses and the reprocessed <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">GPS<\/jats:styled-content> data show high quality of the analyses where operational <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">GPS<\/jats:styled-content> data are assimilated and lower quality where no <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">GPS<\/jats:styled-content> data are assimilated. Small but significant biases are found in the radiosonde data during daytime (\u22120.5 to +1.4 kg m<jats:sup>\u22122<\/jats:sup>), but their origin is not determined so far. Thanks to the high spatial density of the reprocessed <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">GPS<\/jats:styled-content> stations, both the large\u2010scale and small\u2010scale variations in <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">IWV<\/jats:styled-content> can be documented. The case of <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">HyMeX I<\/jats:styled-content>ntensive Observing Period 8 is presented as an example of a heavy precipitation event. This work suggests that improved quality of the humidity fields can be expected of the future <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">AROME\u2010WMED<\/jats:styled-content> reanalysis 2 as a result of the assimilation of the reprocessed <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">GPS<\/jats:styled-content>
