Part 1 produced composite estimates of <jats:italic>B<\/jats:italic> from geomagnetic and sunspot data over the period 1750\u20132013. Sunspot\u2010based reconstructions can be extended back to 1610, but the paleocosmic ray (PCR) record is the only data set capable of providing a record of solar activity on millennial timescales. The process for converting <jats:sup>10<\/jats:sup>Be concentrations measured in ice cores to <jats:italic>B<\/jats:italic> is more complex than with geomagnetic and sunspot data, and the uncertainties in <jats:italic>B<\/jats:italic> derived from cosmogenic nuclides (~20% for any individual year) are much larger. Within this level of uncertainty, we find reasonable overall agreement between PCR\u2010based <jats:italic>B<\/jats:italic> and the geomagnetic\u2010 and sunspot number\u2010based series. This agreement was enhanced by excising low values in PCR\u2010based <jats:italic>B<\/jats:italic> attributed to high\u2010energy solar proton events. Other discordant intervals, with as yet unspecified causes remain included in our analysis. Comparison of 3\u2009year averages centered on sunspot minimum yields reasonable agreement between the three estimates, providing a means to investigate the long\u2010term changes in the heliospheric magnetic field into the past even without a means to remove solar proton events from the records.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1002\/2016ja022550","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2016,6,17]],"date-time":"2016-06-17T03:32:47Z","timestamp":1466134367000},"page":"6064-6074","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":21,"title":["Near\u2010Earth heliospheric magnetic field intensity since 1750: 2.
