A similar blocking effect was also shown by a monoclonal antibody binding to \u03b2<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub>\u2010microglobulin, a molecule physically associated with HLA\u2010A, B and C antigens on the target cell surface, but not by a monoclonal antibody binding to the non\u2010HLA\u2010associated leukocyte\u2010common antigen. Saturating concentrations of monoclonal antibodies specific for common determinants on all HLA\u2010DRw antigen molecules either had no effect at all upon EB virus\u2010specific T cell cytotoxicity or caused a slight, but nonspecific, inhibition.
