{"status":"ok","message-type":"work","message-version":"1.0.0","message":{"indexed":{"date-parts":[[2025,11,7]],"date-time":"2025-11-07T08:47:08Z","timestamp":1762505228963},"reference-count":63,"publisher":"Wiley","issue":"3","license":[{"start":{"date-parts":[[2005,11,17]],"date-time":"2005-11-17T00:00:00Z","timestamp":1132185600000},"content-version":"vor","delay-in-days":5009,"URL":"http:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/termsAndConditions#vor"}],"content-domain":{"domain":[],"crossmark-restriction":false},"short-container-title":["Eur J Immunol"],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[1992,3]]},"abstract":"<jats:title>Abstract<\/jats:title><jats:p>The expression of \u03b3\/\u03b4 T cell antigen receptors (TcR) in T cell lines or clones derived from tumor\u2010infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) from patients with solid tumors was investigated. \u03b3\/\u03b4 TcR T cell lines were derived from TIL from patients with Wilms tumor, sarcoma or metastatic melanoma by stimulation with autologous tumor cells alone and recombinant interleukin 2 and they exhibited nonspecific cytotoxicity against autologous and allogeneic tumor cells, or cells of the K562 or the MEL21 tumor cell lines. Two T cell lines were derived from a patient with Wilms tumor. One of them expressed a non\u2010disulfide\u2010linked \u03b3\/\u03b4 TcR using the 60\u2010kDa \u03b3 chain, whereas, the other expressed a disulfide\u2010linked \u03b3\/\u03b4 TcR. A T cell line was derived from a patient with sarcoma and expressed a disulfide\u2010linked \u03b3\/\u03b4 TcR, whereas, a T cell line derived from a patient with melanoma expressed a non\u2010disulfide\u2010linked \u03b3 chain of 62 kDa. Several T cell clones were developed from patients with metastatic melanoma or Wilms tumor and expressed either disulfide\u2010 or non\u2010disulfide\u2010linked \u03b3\/\u03b4 TcR. Northern analysis of RNA from certain of these clones revealed a full\u2010length \u03b3 chain transcript, whereas, the \u03b1 or \u03b2 chain transcripts were either absent or truncated. These T cell clones exhibited nonspecific cytotoxicity. Both disulfide\u2010 and non\u2010disulfide\u2010linked TIL T cell lines and clones expressed the \u03b4 TCS1 determinant. \u03b3\/\u03b4 TcR<jats:sup>+<\/jats:sup> cells in freshly prepared TIL from these patients were present in low proportions (&lt;5%) and their \u03b4TCS1\/\u03b41 ratios were within the range observed in the peripheral blood of normal donors. These results demonstrate that both disulfide\u2010and non\u2010disulfide\u2010linked \u03b3\/\u03b4 TcR are expressed on T cell lines and clones derived from TIL from solid tumors. Non\u2010disulfide\u2010linked \u03b3\/\u03b4 TcR using the 56\u201366\u2010kDa \u03b3 chain are frequently found on TIL\u2010derived T cell lines and clones.
