In contrast to variants from polyoma\u2010transformed cells, 81\u201393% of the variants from DMNA\u2010transformed cells, and from cells transformed by benzo (a) pyrene or X\u2010irradiation had again, like normal cells, acquired a limited life\u2010span in vitro. This termination of life\u2010span was intracellularly determined. The escape from the limited life\u2010span by some of these variants was due to a re\u2010reversion from the reverted to the transformed state.
