This method involved acid hydrolysis of medicagenins to release medicagenic acid, which was extracted from the hydrolysate and purified by column chromatography. After derivatisation to a dimethyl ester, di\u2010 (tri\u2010methyl silyl) ether the medicagenic acid was then quantified by gas chromatography.
