DMNT is more receptor\u2010selective than 17\u03b1\u2010methyl\u201017\u03b2\u2010hydroxy\u2010estra\u20104,9,11\u2010trien\u20103\u2010one (R1881); DMNT interacts with glucocorticoid and progestin receptors much less strongly than R1881. Unlike 5\u03b1\u2010dihydrotestosterone, DMNT does not bind tightly to testosterone\u2010estradiol binding globulin of human serum. The hydroxylapatite\u2010filter assay we employed can clearly distinguish between DMNT binding to androgen receptors of rat ventral prostate and interaction of DMNT with androgen binding protein of epididymides. The prostate cytosol (<jats:sup>3<\/jats:sup>H)DMNT\u2010receptor complex sediments in two forms (4 and 8 S) in a low salt medium. In 0.4 M KCl, both the prostate cytosol and nuclear (<jats:sup>3<\/jats:sup>H)DMNT\u2010receptor complexes migrated as 3\u20134 S components.
