This work reports the application of this approach toward commonly available, eco\u2010friendly, low\u2010cost substrates, namely, chromatographic and office papers. Through an appropriate chemical treatment with sodium tetraborate as a fire\u2010retardant agent, photothermal conversion to porous laser\u2010induced graphene (LIG) on paper is achieved. Raman peaks are identified, with <jats:italic>I<\/jats:italic><jats:sub>2D<\/jats:sub>\/<jats:italic>I<\/jats:italic><jats:sub>G<\/jats:sub> and <jats:italic>I<\/jats:italic><jats:sub>D<\/jats:sub>\/<jats:italic>I<\/jats:italic><jats:sub>G<\/jats:sub> peak ratios of 0.616 \u00b1 0.095 and 1.281 \u00b1 0.173, showing the formation of multilayered graphenic material, exhibiting sheet resistances as low as 56.0 \u2126 sq<jats:sup>\u20131<\/jats:sup>. Coplanar, LIG\u2010based, three\u2010electrode systems (working, counter and reference electrodes) are produced and characterized, showing high current Faradaic oxidation and reduction peaks, translating in high electrochemical active area, doubling the geometric area. Good electron transfer kinetics performed exclusively with on\u2010chip measurements are reached, with <jats:italic>k<\/jats:italic><jats:sub>0<\/jats:sub> values as high as 7.15 \u00d7 10<jats:sup>\u20134<\/jats:sup> cm s<jats:sup>\u20131<\/jats:sup>.
