Treatment of [VO(OEt)<jats:sub>3<\/jats:sub>] with potassium hydrotris(1\u2010pyrazolyl)borate {K[HB(pz)<jats:sub>3<\/jats:sub>]} led to the mixed <jats:italic>\u03b7<\/jats:italic><jats:sup>3<\/jats:sup>\u2010tris(pyrazolyl)borate and <jats:italic>\u03b7<\/jats:italic><jats:sup>2<\/jats:sup>\u2010bis(pyrazolyl)borate oxovanadium(IV) complex [VO{HB(pz)<jats:sub>3<\/jats:sub>}{H<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub>B(pz)<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub>}, <jats:bold>5<\/jats:bold>]. The compounds were characterized by elemental analyses, IR, NMR and EPR spectroscopy, FAB and ESI mass spectrometry, cyclic voltammetry and, for <jats:bold>5<\/jats:bold>, also by single crystal X\u2010ray diffraction analysis.
