When the 3D\u2005ligand was loaded onto Fe<jats:sub>3<\/jats:sub>O<jats:sub>4<\/jats:sub>@mSiO<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub> core\u2010shell nanoparticles, it could effectively separate K<jats:sup>+<\/jats:sup> ions from a mixture of Na<jats:sup>+<\/jats:sup>, K<jats:sup>+<\/jats:sup>, Mg<jats:sup>2+<\/jats:sup>, and Ca<jats:sup>2+<\/jats:sup> ions through nanoparticle\u2010assisted MOF crystallization into a Fe<jats:sub>3<\/jats:sub>O<jats:sub>4<\/jats:sub>@mSiO<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub>@MOF hybrid material.
