In this work, CB7 and CB8 macrocycles have been studied as hosts for the carbonyl complex [CpMo(CO)<jats:sub>3<\/jats:sub>Me] (<jats:bold>1<\/jats:bold>) (Cp\u2009=\u2009<jats:italic>\u03b7<\/jats:italic><jats:sup>5<\/jats:sup>\u2010C<jats:sub>5<\/jats:sub>H<jats:sub>5<\/jats:sub>). Compounds were isolated in the solid state and characterized as genuine 1:1 inclusion complexes (<jats:bold>1<\/jats:bold>@CB<jats:italic>n<\/jats:italic>) by elemental and thermogravimetric analyses, powder X\u2010ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, <jats:sup>13<\/jats:sup>C{<jats:sup>1<\/jats:sup>H} cross\u2010polarization magic\u2010angle spinning NMR, FT\u2010IR, Raman, and diffuse reflectance UV\u2013Vis spectroscopies. The host\u2013guest structures can act as supramolecular precatalysts for olefin epoxidation. Based on the model reaction of <jats:italic>cis<\/jats:italic>\u2010cyclooctene with hydroperoxide oxidants (<jats:italic>tert<\/jats:italic>\u2010butylhydroperoxide or hydrogen peroxide), the structural features of <jats:bold>1<\/jats:bold>@CB<jats:italic>n<\/jats:italic> as well as the operating conditions influence the catalytic process. The metal species in <jats:bold>1<\/jats:bold>@CB<jats:italic>n<\/jats:italic> undergo oxidative decarbonylation in situ, giving oxidized metal species that are catalytically active for olefin epoxidation. The type of oxidant and solvent influences the catalytic activity and stability. <jats:bold>1<\/jats:bold>@CB8 was more stable than <jats:bold>1<\/jats:bold>@CB7 with regard to catalyst recycling and reuse. Based on the substrate scope investigation, for relatively large olefins, such as the fatty acid methyl ester methyl oleate, the size of the macrocyclic host may be a determining factor for catalytic
