This study is based upon recently obtained accurate data for the binary mixtures methane + ethane and n\u2010heptane + 2,2,4\u2010trimethylpentane. \u2014 A reduced thermal conductivity for the mixtures is defined such that its density dependence is identical to that of the pure components. \u2014 Furthermore, a scheme is developed that enables the prediction of the thermal conductivity of the mixtures at any temperature <jats:italic>T<\/jats:italic> \u2264 0.7 <jats:italic>T<\/jats:italic><jats:sub>c<\/jats:sub> any pressure, solely from data for the pure components, i.e. without resort to any experimentally adjusted parameters for the mixtures. Such scheme is able to reproduce the available thermal conductivity data for the above mentioned systems with an error of the order of \u00b12% at a 2\u03c3 level (\u03c3 being the standard deviation), which is commensurate with the combined uncertainty of the experimental results for the pure components and for the mixtures.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1002\/bbpc.19900940504","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2012,7,26]],"date-time":"2012-07-26T17:00:06Z","timestamp":1343322006000},"page":"553-559","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":4,"title":["Prediction of the Thermal Conductivity of Liquid Alkane Mixtures"],"prefix":"10.1002","volume":"94","author":[{"given":"J.
