Four years after their synthesis, the resulting quasi\u2010anhydrous electrolytes remained amorphous, homogeneous, flexible, and thermally stable below 200\u2009\u00b0C. SEM\/EDS data revealed the presence of the PIL at the surface of the xerogels with <jats:italic>X<\/jats:italic>&gt;5\u2009%, demonstrating that this type of morphological characterization is mandatory to avoid misleading ionic conductivity values. The highest ionic conductivity was produced in the washed sample with <jats:italic>X<\/jats:italic>=30\u2009% (3.5\u00d710<jats:sup>\u22125<\/jats:sup> and 2.1\u00d710<jats:sup>\u22123<\/jats:sup>\u2005S\u2009cm<jats:sup>\u22121<\/jats:sup> at 25 and 170\u2009\u00b0C, respectively).
