Comparison between the INS spectra of pure samples and their binary mixtures reveals the presence of new bands at about 82, 130 and 170\u2005cm<jats:sup>\u22121<\/jats:sup>. Assignment of the 82\u2005cm<jats:sup>\u22121<\/jats:sup> band to the \u03bdO<jats:bold>\u22c5\u22c5\u22c5<\/jats:bold>H anti\u2010translational mode is considered and discussed. In addition, the \u03b2C\uf8ffH mode of CHCl<jats:sub>3<\/jats:sub> at 1242\u2005cm<jats:sup>\u22121<\/jats:sup> is split in the spectra of the mixtures, and the high\u2010wavenumber component is assigned to the hydrogen\u2010bonded complex. The plot of the integrated intensity of this component shows a maximum for <jats:italic>x<\/jats:italic>=0.5, in agreement with the 1:1 stoichiometry of the chloroform<jats:bold>\u22c5\u22c5\u22c5<\/jats:bold>acetone complex, with a calculated complexation constant of 0.15\u2005dm<jats:sup>3<\/jats:sup>\u2009mol<jats:sup>\u22121<\/jats:sup>.
