However, the precise quantification of the actual temperature rise in the vicinity of such nanosystems poses considerable challenges. Here, we present a new heater\u2013thermometer nanoplatform capable of measuring the plasmon\u2010induced local temperature increase of Au nanorods via the ratiometric upconversion of (Gd,Yb,Er)<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub>O<jats:sub>3<\/jats:sub> nanothermometers upon 980\u2005nm laser excitation (up to 102.0\u2005W\u2009cm<jats:sup>\u22122<\/jats:sup>). The local temperature rise, 302\u2013548\u2005K (maximum temperature sensitivity 1.22\u2009% K<jats:sup>\u22121<\/jats:sup>, uncertainty 0.32\u2005K and repeatability &gt;99\u2009%), is assessed using Boltzmann's distribution of the Er<jats:sup>3+ 2<\/jats:sup>H<jats:sub>11\/2<\/jats:sub>\u2192<jats:sup>4<\/jats:sup>I<jats:sub>15\/2<\/jats:sub>\/ <jats:sup>4<\/jats:sup>S<jats:sub>3\/2<\/jats:sub>\u2192<jats:sup>4<\/jats:sup>I<jats:sub>15\/2<\/jats:sub> intensity ratio.
