The presence of a pseudo\u2010isosbestic point in the<\/jats:italic> \u03bd<jats:italic>C\uf8feO region supports the assignment of the two observed bands to two species in equilibrium, considered to be the free and 1:1 associated forms. The values of \u0394<\/jats:italic>H\u00b0<jats:italic>=\u221218.5\u00b10.6 kJ\u2009mol<\/jats:italic><jats:sup><jats:italic>\u22121<\/jats:italic><\/jats:sup> <jats:italic>and \u0394<\/jats:italic>S\u00b0<jats:italic>=\u221276\u00b12 J\u2009K<\/jats:italic><jats:sup><jats:italic>\u22121<\/jats:italic><\/jats:sup> <jats:italic>mol<\/jats:italic><jats:sup><jats:italic>\u22121<\/jats:italic><\/jats:sup> <jats:italic>for the dimerization through C\uf8ffH\u22c5\u22c5\u22c5O hydrogen bonds were obtained from the dimerization constant at different temperatures. The concentrationdependent intensity of the<\/jats:italic> \u03bd<jats:italic>CH<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub> band profile is ascribed to the presence of a blue\u2010shifted band from the hydrogen\u2010bonded C<\/jats:italic><jats:inline-graphic xmlns:xlink=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/1999\/xlink\" xlink:href=\"graphic\/tex2gif-inf-6.gif\" xlink:title=\"urn:x-wiley:14394235:media:CPHC200400423:tex2gif-inf-6\"\/><jats:italic>\uf8ffH group.
