The ligand was further immobilized in an epoxy\u2010activated sepharose by chemical coupling through the aminoalkyl pendent group with the aim of improving its sequestering capacity for residual amounts of metals. The new hydroxypyrimidinone\u2010functionalized sepharose shows a high chelating capacity for metal ions in the pH range 3\u22128, thus suggesting good perspectives for potential environmental applications.
