Except for the Cu complex, which forms a four\u2010metal cluster [Cu<jats:sub>4<\/jats:sub>(\u03b1\u2010mtpdt)<jats:sub>3<\/jats:sub>]<jats:sup>2\u2013<\/jats:sup>, the metals form complexes of the general formula [M(\u03b1\u2010mtpdt)<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub>]. With Au, Ni and Fe, the complexes are directly obtained from the synthesis as monoanionic salts, and the isostructural crystal structures of [<jats:italic>n<\/jats:italic>Bu<jats:sub>4<\/jats:sub>N][Ni(\u03b1\u2010mtpdt)<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub>] and [<jats:italic>n<\/jats:italic>Bu<jats:sub>4<\/jats:sub>N][Au(\u03b1\u2010mtpdt)<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub>] were solved by single\u2010crystal X\u2010ray diffraction. For M = Co, Pt and Pd, both monoanionic and dianionic salts were obtained, and the crystal structures of [Ph<jats:sub>4<\/jats:sub>As]<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub>[Co(\u03b1\u2010mtpdt)<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub>] and [Ph<jats:sub>4<\/jats:sub>As]<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub>[Pd(\u03b1\u2010mtpdt)<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub>] were determined by single\u2010crystal X\u2010ray diffraction. The Co compound presents a rare tetrahedral coordination geometry. The oxidation of the monoanionic Ni and Au complexes with iodine leads to stable neutral complexes, which are fairly soluble in common organic solvents such as acetonitrile and dichloromethane. The crystal structure of [Ni(\u03b1\u2010mtpdt)<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub>] was solved by single\u2010crystal X\u2010ray diffraction.
